Goal poachers

Fox-in-the-box strikers/goal poachers:

They are the masters of the penalty area. Having great control of the ball in crowded areas, they are often a split second ahead of defenders and they have the instinct to be at the right place at the right time.

Notable examples of fox-in-the-box strikers include Ruud van Nistelrooy, Hernan Crespo and Filippo Inzaghi; they are probably the creme de la creme of their generation. Contrary to popular belief, these strikers' jobs are not simple too; it requires an astute poacher's instinct and quick reflexes--ability to react faster than your opponents in the crowded penalty box.
A striker's job is to score goals, as long as one does it, he is a good striker. What's the use of a team playing attractive football and yet can't score? There are many different types of strikers and each has his own outstanding attributes. I think that fox-in-the-box strikers are a rare commodity nowadays; seldom do you have natural poachers who work in and around the penalty box to grab goals, even in the slightest possible circumstances.

Such strikers are often goal-scoring machines, they get onto the scoresheet consistently and in my opinion, it is important for any team as goals are what matter. The ultimate aim of any team is to get the ball into the back of the net, be it an ugly or beautiful shot. People are often in awe of beautiful, long-range shots; but few ponder that it is actually the bread-and-butter goals of these goal poachers that enable their teams to win consistently.
